NOVENA TO OUR LADY (Assumption Feast)
(Begins August 6)
The annual novena to the
Blessed Virgin Mary under the title of Gospa Sinjska, Our
Lady of Sinj (a town in Croatia),takes place from August 6
through August 14 with an evening mass, prayers,litany,
and hymns in honor of Mary. The Parish’s treasured
picture of Gospa Sinjska is placed near the main altar
andregally decorated with flowers and candles for this
special occasion. On the feast of her Assumption, August
15, a grand celebration is held on the parish grounds
beginning with a solemn procession through the
neighborhood, and followed by a high mass.
The following prayers are those recited each day of the
novena:
Direct, we beseech Thee, O Lord, our actions by Thy
grace and assistance, that our every prayer and work may
begin from Thee and end with Thee.
1. Blessed be that moment,
O Mary, when the angels took you up into heaven. Hail Mary

2. Blessed be that moment,
O Mary, when your Son called you to heaven.
3. Blessed be that moment,
O Mary, when the whole heavenly court crowned you in
heaven.
4. Blessed be that moment,
O Mary, when you were received with such great honor into
heaven.
5. Blessed be that moment,
O Mary, when you were placed at the right hand of your Son
in heaven.
6. Blessed be that moment,
O Mary, when you were crowned with such great honor in
heaven.
7. Blessed be that moment,
O Mary, when you were proclaimed the Daughter, Mother, and
Spouse of God in heaven.
8. Blessed be that moment,
O Mary, when you were proclaimed Queen of the whole
heavenly court.
9. Blessed be that moment,
O Mary, when all the angels and saints rendered homage to
you in heaven.
10. Blessed be that moment,
O Mary, when you were chosen to be our protectress in
heaven.
11. Blessed be that moment,
O Mary, when you began to intercede for us in heaven.
12. Blessed be that moment,
O Mary, when you will mercifully receive us into heaven.

PRAYER
TO OUR LADY OF SINJ
O Miraculous Lady of Sinj,
your glorious name is known far and wide. In sickness and
in need you have always given your aid. These gifts of
gold with which your grateful children have adorned your
beloved image are proof of your intercession and help.
Most confidently I, too, come to you, my dearest Mother,
during this Novena to pray for your help in my affliction.
I am not worthy of your favor, for I have often grieved
you by offending your Son, but now, with a contrite heart,
I promise to amend my life, and since you are a good and
merciful Mother, you will look from above with pity upon
your child. O powerful Queen of Heaven, you will obtain
from God forgiveness of my sins, and help in all of my
tribulations, but especially in this favor I now ask of
you (make your request). Hear me, dearest Mother, if it be
God's will, and I shall be grateful to you to the end of
my life. Amen.

Let us pray:
Grant, we beseech you, O Lord God, that we your servants may
enjoy perpetual health of mind and body, and through the
intercession of the blessed Mary ever Virgin, may be
delivered from present sorrow and obtain eternal joy.
