Dvorana Sv. Jeronima u Chicagu ugostila je u subotu 6. ožujka 2010. klub Poljica, koji u ovoj hrvatskoj zajednici postoji još od 1946. godine. Od tada Poljičani u Chicagu imaju i svoju poznatu večer pod nazivom “Bakalar večera” . Večer kada se poslužuje najbolja riba u Chicagu i najbolji bakalar u Americi. Vrsni kuhari braća Soldo i ove godine učini su događaj za pamćenje.
Hrvati i njihovi prijatelji, često poznate i javne osobe iz grada Chicaga, sudjeluju na ovoj večeri. Uz hrvatsku tamburicu, predstavnike svih hrvatskih župa, udruga i zajednice, ova večer ima vrlo bogatu i poštovanu tradiciju. Mladi koji su preuzeli klub prošle godine svojim sposobnostima pokazali su i snagu i organizaciju . Kako je ugodno znati da tradicija, osvježena snagom i voljom nastavlja živjeti dalje.
St. Jerome ‘s parish hall was the scene of Club Poljica’s Annual Bakalar Dinner on Saturday evening, March 6, 2010. Their tradition of organizing the Bakalar fish dinner began shortly after the Club was founded in 1946. This evening, the best fish in Chicago and the best bakalar in America was served. Exceptional cooks – the Brothers Soldo – made this event memorable.
Croatians and their friends, oftentimes well-known public figures from Chicago, attended. With Croatian tamburica, representatives from Croatian parishes, clubs and organizations, this was a tradition-filled and great event. This year was special because the younger generation of the Club took over the Club last year. The evening of Bakalar is the unique opportunity to bring the community of St. Jerome and our friends together.
How wonderful it is to know that we have a tradition refreshed with new strengths and talents that will continue to live for many years.
