Easter - Uskrs 2003, St. Jerome

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Easter is a sign to the world and to mankind that Life and Resurrection have the final say. In daily life, every one of us feels the weight of his cross - the cross of suffering, loneliness, and misunderstandings. We all feel the evil around us and the anxiety within us. That is why Our Risen Lord wants to give us a new vision and show us what lies beyond our troubles - and that is the Resurrection!
Easter is the triumph of good over evil, the victory of life over death, love over hate, and hope over despair. In Christ's Resurrection, we discover what we are searching for, and what we hope to attain - eternal life.
Christ took upon Himself all suffering, all injustice, and all the sins of the world. All of that converged in His heart. Then, on Easter morning His heart radiated with the joy and light of His victory over sin and death. That joy and light is the source of the everlasting hope of eternal life for every person who follows Christ. "Never let go of your faith", Mother Theresa implores us, "even if pain and sadness overwhelm you to the point of forgetting the joy of the Risen Christ!"
With that in mind, dear parishioners, we wish all of you a glorious Easter because of Christ's victory over death. We beg the Risen Lord that the hope of personal resurrection for all who carry their crosses will not fail, but will allow them to go forward in faith from their personal "Good Fridays" to Easter.
We wish you a happy and blessed Easter, and a new life of resurrection in the days that lie ahead!

Dragi župljani i prijatelji!
Uskrs je poruka ovome svijetu i čovjeku, da život i uskrsnuće imaju zadnju riječ. U svagdanjem životu svaki od nas osjeća težinu svojega križa - kroz patnju, osamljenost i nerazumijevanje, osjeća zloću oko sebe i nemir u sebi. Isus nam, stoga, svojim uskrsnućem želi svratiti pogled dalje, na ono što dolazi poslije križa - a to je uskrsnuće.
Uskrs je: u Kristu ostvarena pobjeda dobra nad zlom, pobjeda života nad smrću, pobjeda ljubavi nad mržnjom, nade nad očajem. Naš ljudski život u Kristovom uskrsnuću dobiva odgovor na ono za čime čovjek traga i što želi ostvariti: vječno živjeti.
Krist je na sebe uzeo svu bol, sve nepravde i sve grijehe svijeta. Sve se to slilo u njegovo srce. No, uskrsnog jutra njegovo srce je zasjalo radošću i svjetlom Božje pobjede nad grijehom i smrću. Ta radost i to svjetlo jesu temelji neugasive nade vječnoga života za svakog čovjeka koji ide Isusovim putem. "Nikada nemojte dopustiti", poručuje nam Majka Terezija, "da vas bol i žalost svladaju tako da zaboravite radost uskrsloga Krista!"
Stoga, želimo svima Vama, dragi vjernici, radost Uskrsa zbog Kristove pobjede nad smrću. Molimo uskrslog Gospodina da nada našeg vlastitog uskrsnuća, u vama koji nosite svoj križ, ne klone nego da u vjeri idete Kristovim putem koji preko Velikog Petka vodi do Uskrsa.

Misa Posljednje Večere - 7:00 p.m.
Klanjanje do 12 sati navečer.
The Church is open for private prayer and adoration until 12 p.m.

GOOD FRIDAY - VELIKI PETAK - April 18, 2003
A day of fast and abstinence
* 3:00 pm Celebration of the Lord's Passion (English)
* 6:30 pm Procession with the wooden cross throughout the neighborhood, followed by the Celebration of the Lords Passion (Croatian).
* 6:30 sati navečer: Procesija s drvenim križem ulicama našeg grada. Iza toga slijedi muka i klanjanje Raspetome.
