WEEKLY
MEDITATION
The tragedy greater than all others
is to be blind and to say that we
can see. There are so many areas
where we are perilously blind to the
ways in which our actions, words,
thoughts, and desires have
jeopardized our eternal salvation.
Our redemption in Christ must begin
with an honest assessment of our
fallen nature, with our intellects
darkened and our wills weakened,
wounded by the effects of the sin of
Adam and Eve.
We
dread to hear our Lord speak these
words in judgment of us: " 'But
we see', you say, and your sin
remains." Self-righteousness
and hypocritical posturing are
abhorrent to God, who favors us when
we embrace our true place before him
as Our Lady does, one of humility
and gratitude, of praise and
thanksgiving. This is accomplished
by heeding the Lord's call for
repentance through authentic
conversion. Our Lenten journey
toward Easter cannot be complete
without the fullness of God's mercy
granted in sacramental Confession.
Since all are with sin, all are in
need of repentance. In Lent we must
let the scales fall from our eyes,
to see ourselves as we truly are
before our thrice-holy God. Whether
or not we are conscious of mortal
sin, Confession always grants the
graces of Christ to the repentant
sinner.

STATIONS
OF THE CROSS - During Lent The
WAY OF THE CROSS is held each Friday
in English at 7 P.M. Please note
that next Friday, March 15, it will
be held at 6:30 P.M. due to the
lecture given by Tom McGrath that
begins at 7:00 P.M.
LECTURE
SERIES #3 - Our monthly
lecture series continues. The third
lecture will be held
 on
Friday, March 15 at 7P.M. and is
entitled Raising Faith-Filled Kids.
It will be given by Tom McGrath, who
offers ideas and inspiration for
parents and others who care about
kids. As a former child care worker
and Catholic high school religion
teacher, Tom has developed a deep
understanding of religious
development at various ages. He has
given retreats and evenings of
reflection in parishes and retreat
centers. The lecture will be held in
the Small Hall behind the church.
All are invited to attend this
worthwhile event.
MARIAN
SOCIETY LUNCHEON - Each
month the Marian Society prepares a
delicious homemade meal. The members
will serve lunch next Sunday, March
17 in the school hall after 11A.M.
mass. The cost is $10.00 and all
proceeds go toward the purchase of 2
beautiful mosaics for our church.
Come and support the work of these
dedicated ladies of the Marian
Society.
LATE NIGHT CATECHISM IS COMING TO
ST. JEROME - The smash hit
comedy play Late Night Catechism is
coming to St. Jerome on Saturday,
April 20th. Tickets are $25 each and
include the show, coffee, sweets
& snacks afterward. There will
also be a cash bar and raffles too!

EVENING OF
RECONCILIATION - On Palm
Sunday, March 24, at 6 P.M. there
will be a special opportunity to
avail yourself of the Sacrament of
Reconciliation before the sacred
feast of Easter. Several priests
will be available to hear
confessions in our church. Without
this sacrament is it possible to be
truly and fully prepared to welcome
the Risen Christ on Easter Sunday?

ANNIVERSARY. . .RECALLING OUR PAST
In 1922 our parish school opened for
grades 1 through 4. The teachers
were the Sisters of the Most
Precious Blood. A home near the
school was purchased for them in
1923.
