WEEKLY MEDITATION

Peter responds in John 13:36 with the question "Lord, where are you going?".  Shortly thereafter Thomas blurts out, "We do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?".  Phillip, too, expresses his anxiety with "Lord show us the Father, and it is enough for us."  The air is thick with their feelings of anxiety, doubt, and confusion - feelings many of us have experienced at one time or another.  We can learn a terrific lesson from these very human disciples: it is okay to cry out to Jesus with our fears, doubts, and confusion regarding important issues of life, death, and eternal life.
"If I go... I will come again and receive you to myself, that where I am there you may be also." This was the issue. Where you are, Jesus, that's where we want to be. The disciples realized during the short time they had been together - less than three years - that Jesus was unique. They had seen something in Jesus that they had not seen anywhere else. They had experienced something akin to God. They didn't understand it at this point, but they knew that Jesus was a unique link to the Father.

FILM PRESENTATION: Old Testament Fathers - Our movie series featuring the most prominent people of the Old Testament will continue this Wednesday, May 1, at 7 P.M. in the small hall with the film entitled JOSEPH. All are welcome!

PARISH ANNIVERSARY LECTURE SERIES - Please join us on May 10th at 7:30 P.M. in the school hall for our next lecture. Fr. Mike Yakaitis will speak on Catholic Identity/ Finding Time for Prayer in a Busy Schedule. This will be the third time Fr. Mike joins us and we are looking forward to his insights. Refreshments will be served after the lecture.

MAY CROWNING - Please join the school children on Thursday, May 9th at 7 P.M. in church as we crown Our Blessed Mother. This beautiful ceremony, which includes the "living rosary", honors Mary during her special month. One of our first communicants will have the honor of crowning Our Lady.

MEDJUGORJE VISIONARY - Visits St. Jerome Church.  Since the apparitions began in 1981, millions of people of all faiths, from all over the world, have visited Medjugorje and have left spiritually strengthened and renewed. Countless unbelievers and those physically or mentally afflicted have been converted and healed. You owe it to yourself and your loved ones to investigate with an open mind and heart the events which are occurring in Medjugorje.
Vicka Ivankovic, one of the most popular Medjugorje visionaries, will be the honored guest of our parish next month. Everyone is invited to attend a special mass at 7 P.M. on Tuesday, May 7, and have the opportunity to meet Vicka afterward. This evening of prayer and spiritual enrichment is organized by the Medjugorje Prayer Group of St. Jerome Parish.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION for our second graders will be next Sunday, May 5, at 9:30 A.M. mass. Please remember our communicants in your prayers as they prepare to receive Our Lord for the very first time.

THE MONTH OF MAY, the joyous month of Our Lady, will soon be upon us. As we celebrate the 90th anniversary of our parish, we would like everyone, especially during this month, to get to know more of our fellow parishioners. Therefore, we ask each of you to do the following during May: approach someone whom you usually see in church, or see from time to time, and make the acquaintance of that person or family. Try to meet other members of our big parish family who share with you this holy meeting place. This month of May, let us get to know one another more than ever before. Let us celebrate, broaden, and strengthen parish fellowship!

MARRIAGE ANNIVERSARIES - During our 90th anniversary year we wish to acknowledge all of the couples in our parish who are celebrating special anniversaries (5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, etc.). Please reserve Sunday, August 25 for a special mass at 9:30 A.M. where, together, all special anniversary couples will renew their marriage vows.

CONGRATULATIONS to John and Catherine (Katrina Bradarich) Bills on their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married in our church on April 27, 1952.

On March 15, 1931, the Altar Society of St. Theresa was solemnly established. The purpose of this organization was the moral and material support of the parish.
