WEEKLY
MEDITATION
Today
we celebrate the dedication of the
Basilica of Saint John Lateran. To
many Christians, those who are
Catholic and those who are not, it
could seem strange that this great day
should be so important in the life of
the Church. For us, the temple, the
church is not only a building; it is
where we celebrate the Holy Mass and
where we receive the Body and the
Blood of Christ. In this church Our
Lord makes his home in the Blessed
Sacrament. Because of this it is
especially important for us. What’s
more, in this church our sins are
pardoned and our faith is strengthened
and helped to grow daily. In this
church all of the most important
stages in our Christian life take
place, beginning with our Baptism and
ending with our funeral.
To
the church we go to present to God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, our
sorrows and our joys. In a special way
in this church we encounter Our Lord,
we hear his word and we feel his love.
All Catholic churches are very
important for us. There are those that
are impressive, what we would call
marvelous works of art, and those that
are more austere, but all are of equal
significance, all have the same value,
since in all of them Jesus makes his
home in the Blessed Sacrament, the
center of our lives.
MEDITATION
FOR PARENTS What we can do,
as parents and teachers of children,
to raise future generations of saints,
beginning with our own? Here are some
bits of wisdom that, in keeping with
the season, are gathered from other
wise ones from the communion of
saints:
- “Stop
trying to perfect your
child, but keep trying to
perfect your relationship
with him.”
- “The
best security blanket a
child can have is parents
who respect each
other.”
- “A
little less worry over the
child and a bit more
concern about the world we
make for the child to live
in.”
- “A
baby is born with the need
to be loved and never
outgrows it. Children are
God’s apostles, day bad
sent forth to preach of
live and hope and
peace.”

PHOTOGRAPHS
Dear parishioners, we are sincerely
grateful to all who came to be
photographed for our parish album. We
are grateful to those who came for
individual pictures and for family
portraits. We especially appreciate
your patience while awaiting your
turn. About 300 families have already
been photographed for the album, and
we are fortunate to be able to extend
the opportunity on 4 more dates. We
urge all those who have not yet
participated in this special parish
memory book to sign up today for
yourself or your family. The dates for
taking pictures are Wed.,
Dec. 3 (5-9p.m.); Thursday, Dec. 4 (5-
9 p.m.); Friday, Dec.5 (5—9 p.m.);
Sat., Dec. 6 (9a.m. – 4 p.m.).
Please sign up today and remember to
come at your appointed day and
time!
We
welcome the signing into law by
President Bush of the bill
that banns “partial—birth”
abortion. We hope that this is a step
forward in the struggle to defend the
culture of life and not the “culture
of death” spread by abortion. “The
right to life cannot be granted or
denied by government because it does
not come from government. It comes
from the creator of life” said President
George Bush.
