WEEKLY MEDITATION

A young man in search of salvation consulted an old wise man, "What must I do to become saved?" The old wise man silently drew a line after a meter distance and then asked, "Tell me do you own a house?" The young man answered in the affirmative and so the old wise man measured another meter. "Do you own a car?" Again the young man answered yes and the old wise man measured another meter. "Do you own savings?" Another meter and so on. Till the old wise man measured a total of 20 meters. Then the old wise man told the young man: "Now, jump this distance." The young man answered, "I am not a long distance jumper. I cannot make it." Salvation is the same, the more things you possess the more difficult it is to be saved. It is as simple as that.

PARISH PHOTO ALBUM is soon to be created. Have you made an appointment to have your picture taken and be a part of this special memory book? Many of our parishioners have already signed up for their photo sessions, but many others still need to schedule this important appointment. The St. Jerome Parish album will truly be a meaningful and lasting treasure for all to enjoy, and to enhance our parish history. It is certainly something you will want to have. This weekend is the last opportunity to sign up for a photo session. Please be sure to stop in the vestibule after any of the masses and schedule your appointment. ST. JEROME SCHOOL SAYS THANK YOU
We would like to thank Mrs. Pat Besser and Mr. Tony Kesman for donating money to the school computer lab. The money helped to purchase ten computers and lab furniture. We would also like to thank our parishioners Jure Krpan and Veselko Čuvalo for their generous help in the construction of the lab. Today, after the 9:30 a.m. mass, there will be an open house. Please stop by and see our new lab located in the convent.

A PLEA FOR HELP
Dear friends,
Recently, the Murgic family in Perusici, Croatia suffered a great tragedy. Their 10 year old son Marko went swimming with friends and broke his neck when he jumped into the water. Marko is currently in the hospital recovering from numerous surgeries. He will need additional surgeries to repair the damage. When Marko has had all of the necessary surgeries, Mr. & Mrs. Murgic would like to bring him home from the hospital, but do not have the money to pay for medical bills and the equipment (wheel chair, seat cushion, etc.) a handicapped person needs. Mrs. Murgic will have to quit her job to take care of Marko. Friends, we are asking for your help. We are collecting donations to help the Murgic family buy medical equipment so that they can bring their son Marko home and take care of him. PARISH COUNCIL MEETING will be held this Monday, September 29, at 7 p.m.

SPECIAL CONCERT
Cardinal Stepinac Croatian School is sponsoring a concert and dance featuring the famous Croatian singer Matko Jelavić whose song "Majko" is so well known and loved. This event will take place in our parish hall on Friday, October 10 at 7 p.m. Jelavic will be joined by another fine Croatian voice, that of Elenora, and accompanied by "Kristali", a popular Croatian band from New York. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Tickets can be obtained at the rectory, or by contacting Nevenka Jurković, Ivo Kosir, or Duško Kraljević.

GUEST FROM DUBROVNIK The dean of the American College of Management and Technology located in Dubrovnik, Don Hudspeth, will be here next Sunday, October 5, to visit our parish. After the 11 a.m. mass he will hold a short presentation and meeting in the second floor Small Hall for all who are interested in learning more about this school and the opportunities if offers.
