Discipleship

Jesus tells us that we must "hate" father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even our own lives.  Fortunately, he's not talking about the emotion of hate.  He is talking about an attitude.  The attitude that we must choose is that we will never allow anyone or anything to come between us and our connection to Jesus.  This is what it means to be a disciple.  The implication of professing to be a Christian is that we are willing to suffer.  Being an admirer of Jesus is easy.  Being a disciple requires commitment.  To make this commitment we must calculate the cost,  and with joy accept the implication of choosing to be a Christian.

Right Now ---somebody is very proud of you.--somebody is thinking of you.--somebody is caring about you.--somebody misses you--somebody wants to talk to you.--somebody wants to be with you.--somebody hopes you aren't in trouble.--somebody is thankful for the support you have provided.--somebody wants to hold your hand.--somebody hopes everything turns out all right.--somebody wants you to be happy.--somebody wants you to find him/her.--somebody is celebrating your successes.--somebody wants to give you a gift.--somebody thinks that you ARE a gift.--somebody admires your strength.--somebody is thinking of you and smiling. --somebody loves you.

We welcome Fr.  Tomislav Puljic, O.F.M. our new associate.  Fr.  Tomislav was ordained a priest at St.  Jerome last year.  Since then he was serving at Queen of Peace parish in Norval, Ontario.  We extend our warm welcome to him.  May God bless all his efforts and time he will spend with us.

American College in Dubrovnik

Mr.  Don Hudspeth, the dean of the Rochester Institute of Technology's American College of Management and Technology located in Dubrovnik, Croatia, will visit our parish on Tuesday, September 18 to give a lecture in our small hall to anyone interested in learning more about this college, and to recruit prospective students.  It is necessary for students to speak English because all classes are taught in English, according to the American system of higher education.  Tuition is only $6,000.00 per year.  All are welcome to attend and take advantage of this special opportunity.

Theater Group from Zagreb - CANCELED

Under the sponsorship of our parish and Cardinal Stepinac Croatian School, a play, the popular Croatian comedy Hamlet, A little Village Show, will be performed by a troupe  of well-known Croatian actors.  The story takes place in the rocky village of Lower Mrdusa where  all the villagers are rehearsing Shakespeare's Hamlet to celebrate the anniversary of the president's election.  Amusing and grotesque, Hamlet becomes a folk drama revealing the true nature of its real-life cast.

The famous comedy, the play Hamlet, A Little Village Show, that was scheduled to be performed under the sponsorship of our parish and Cardinal Stepinac Croatian School at Robert Healy School on Friday, September 21, has been canceled due to the national crisis.  The troupe of actors is detained in Montreal.  Out of respect for the terrible loss of life and suffering, they would not want to perform a comedy.  They have expressed  their concern and sympathy for our nation.  Anyone who has already obtained tickets can receive a full refund from whomever they purchased them.
