One Sunday at a California mental hospital a resident was walking out of the building toward the main gate. A breathless attendant caught up with him. "Mr. Harrison, where are you going?" "I was told," replied Harrison , "that I could go to the church of my choice, and that is in New York ." Choices do present difficulties. How do you make yours? What's the Lord's role in your decision making process?

Velika Gospa 2003 - Photo Report

The CHICAGO TRIBUNE featured a special article on our Velika Gospa celebration. A copy is on display in the rear of the church by the cabinets.

SACRED HEART CROATIAN CHURCH will celebrate its 90th anniversary on Sunday, October 5. Solemn High Mass will be at 12 noon, presided over by Bishop John Gorman. A banquet will be held at the Lexington House (7717 W. 95th St., Hickory Hills) beginning at 2 p.m. Dinner will be served at 3 p.m. Tickets are $50 for adults; $20 for children 3 - 12 years; no charge for children under 3. Tables of 8 or 10 people can be reserved. For more information call the parish office at 773/ 768-1423.

MISSIONARY IN OUR PARISH COMMUNITY Each summer we welcome a guest missionary to our parish. This year our guest is Fr. Scyriaque. He is a member of the Blessed Sacrament order. You can find out more about his missionary community in our church. Thank you for your donations to the missions. Today's second collection will be taken for this cause.

WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES If you are celebrating a special anniversary year (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30.....50) please let us know. A special wedding anniversary mass will be celebrated in our church on Sunday, September 21, at 9:30 a.m.

PARISH PHOTO ALBUM This year we will undertake the project of compiling a parish family photo album. Beginning in October, a professional photographer will come to our parish to take pictures of our parishioners. A sign-up sheet to schedule photos will be available on Sunday, September 14.

CROATIAN SCHOOL PICNIC will be held next Saturday, August 30, on the grounds of the Slovenian Franciscan Fathers in Lemont. Parents and children should meet there at 10 a.m. If anyone needs transportation to the grounds, please let us know.

CCD - FORMAL CATECHISM INSTRUCTION
Registration of children for religion classes will be held on Sunday, September 7. Please enroll your children!

ST. JEROME SCHOOL REOPENS tomorrow, Monday, August 25, for the new school year. We welcome back all of our students and teachers and wish them a successful year. Confession for our school children will be on Tuesday, September 2, at 8:30 a.m.

VELIKA GOSPA COMMITTEE MEETING will be held on Wednesday, September 3, at 7 p.m. in the small hall. We ask that all committee members attend so that we can discuss the pros and cons of this year's feast in order to better prepare for next year's celebration.

FRANCISCAN COAT-OF-ARMS has been mounted on the front of the rectory. This handsome brass, copper, and stainless steel handmade symbol was donated to our parish by Nick Vadina and John Ratkovich to whom we offer our sincere thanks and appreciation.

FASHION SHOW St. Jerome School is hosting our annual Fashion Show on Wednesday, September 24, at 6 PM at the Martinique in Evergreen Park. Tickets are $30 each, and include dinner and an open bar.
