WEEKLY
MEDITATION
Life
consists of endless waiting and
expectation.
That is our basic situation.
Our parents waited expectantly
for us to be born.
As children we couldn't wait to
grow up.
Young people await someone to
love and to marry.
We all look forward to
happiness, good fortune, company,
recognition, vocations, and, even if
we're not conscious of it, old age and
death.
Today,
the first day of Advent, a question is
put to us.
What are our expectations, our
hopes?
Perhaps the true realization of
Advent for us would be the Gospel
advice that we should be much more
concerned about discovering and
fulfilling the wishes of others than
fulfilling our own.
That is what Jesus did.
He fulfilled the expectations
of mankind.
Let's prepare ourselves to
recognize Jesus in the manger and to
follow Him with our lives by doing His
will.

OF EVENTS
ADVENT
REFLECTIONS
In today's bulletin you will
find a Catholic Update pamphlet with
short, scripture-based reflections for
each day of Advent. Please take the time to read them. We hope they will help you
to prepare for a Christ-centered
Christmas.
SECOND
COLLECTION
Next week a second collection
will be taken for the retired members
of religious communities.
This national annual appeal is
sanctioned by the Archdiocese of
Chicago and supports the ill and aged

REQUESTS
FOR MASSES
Our church teaches us the
importance of praying for the
dead and offering masses for their
souls.
We are pleased that our
parishioners remember their beloved
deceased with memorial masses; however,
we ask you not to request that all of
your masses be celebrated on a Sunday
because it is impossible to accommodate
all of them. We will be scheduling Sunday masses only for the
anniversaries of the deceased.
All other masses will be
scheduled during the week.
Please schedule anniversary
masses well in advance.
It is our hope that you will
respect this request.
Thank you!
Adoration
of the Blessed Sacrament
takes place every Thursday evening from 7
to 9:00 P.M.
Come and visit Our Lord!
Thought
of the Week

a man has compassion for others, God has
compassion for him."
