WEEKLY
MEDITATION
The
blessed day of Jesus's baptism in the
River Jordan prompts us to think about
Baptism, the fundamental sacrament of
the Church. Through the sacrament of
Baptism we become children of God. We
are created by God, but the sacrament of
Baptism gives us the right and privilege
to be called children of God.
At the baptism of each child, the
original spectacle is repeated and the
same voice is heard (not audibly , but
in a spiritual way) that spoke to Jesus
at His baptism: "This is my beloved
Son in whom I am well pleased."
Those words are said to us, too, and
revealed also to us. We, too, are
beloved children of God and heirs of
heaven.
The other effect of Baptism is the
forgiveness of sin. John the Baptist
beckoned his followers to a baptism of
conversion - a transformation of life -
and subsequently baptized them with
water. For John this was a sign of
goodwill for a new way of life, a better
quality of life from the perspective of
moral behavior.

BLESSING OF
HOMES If you would like one
of the priests to come to your home,
please call the rectory to schedule a
date and time for this beautiful
Catholic tradition.
REMINDER
Are you a registered parishioner of our
parish? Have you changed your address or
telephone number? Please let us know! To
be a member of St. Jerome Parish is an
honor and a source of pride. We are
committed to continue our journey of
faith together. Being a member of our
parish community means actively
participating in parish life.
PRESENTATION
On Sunday, January 19, in the
small hall, a presentation of the very
interesting book "Croatian
Holocaust" will be given by the
author, Professor Ivan Prcela.
CHURCH
CONTRIBUTION VOUCHERS This
week you can pick up proof of your
contributions to our church in the
parish office at the rectory. We extend
sincere gratitude and appreciation for
all the donations to our parish,
particularly towards the church
restoration, and for all that you do for
our parish!
ADORATION
OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
takes place every Thursday from 7 to 9
P.M. in our church. We invite all to
come to this evening of prayer and
visitation with Our Lord.
YEAR
OF THE ROSARY The year 2003
has been dedicated to the rosary. Pope
John Paul II is emphasizing this
traditional form of prayer. In today's
bulletin (Click here!) you will find the Catholic
Update, which has more information about
the rosary and the new Mysteries of
Light.
THANK
YOU to all who donated blood
to help Mary Ann Cubelic. Within a month
we should find out if anyone's blood
sample indicates compatibility.

wherever it exists, and work to build
welcoming and inclusive communities
where we live, work, and worship.
Thought
of the Week

we do for ourselves alone dies with us,
what we do for others remains."
