WEEKLY MEDITATION

Teacher, where are you staying? Where is your home? Where do you find a place to rest, to take refuge where you can relax in peace? With these questions some of His first followers approached Jesus. It was the timid but sincere inquiry of those who sensed something, who felt the compelling force of Jesus's personality. It was a form of love at first sight.
We, too, have often wished to share in the mystery of Jesus's personhood. We speak of a profound Christian experience, an encounter with the living God. Jesus never excludes anyone. His dwelling place is open to all. That is how, in a very simple way He invited His followers, who were filled with desire and curiosity, to join him. He turned to them, looked at them, and called them. He turned around so that His eyes could meet theirs and was pleased at their desire to go with Him. It was such a surprise encounter for them that they even remembered the day and the hour of its occurrence. As scripture records "It was about 4 in the afternoon."

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

BLESSING OF HOMES If you would like one of the priests to come to your home, please call the rectory to schedule a date and time for this beautiful Catholic tradition.

REMINDER Are you a registered parishioner of our parish? Have you changed your address or telephone number? Please let us know!  To be a member of St. Jerome Parish is an honor and a source of pride. We are committed to continue our journey of faith together. Being a member of our parish community means actively participating in parish life.

PRESENTATION Today, January 19, in the small hall, a presentation of the very interesting book "Croatian Holocaust" will be given by the author, Professor Ivan Prcela.

CALL TO PRAYER This month marks 30 years since the Supreme Court legalized abortion (Roe vs. Wade). Please remember this occasion with prayers for the innocent children murdered by abortion - over 40 million!

HELP FOR SOMEONE IN NEED A young man of 25 named Stjepan was diagnosed with the worst from of leukemia. He was placed in a hospital in Zagreb. Doctors anticipate the need for more than 2 years of hospital care to battle this disease. He and his parents are refugees from Sarajevo who cannot afford the necessary care and are asking for help. If anyone can offer monetary assistance for this needy cause, please call Gordana Vlaicevic, 708 485 - 1004.

REMINDER We ask you to please conduct yourself in the proper manner when in our church and refrain from chewing gum, using cell phones, and allowing children to eat or play with toys. We need your cooperation to keep our church clean, and create an atmosphere of respect and reverence. This is the temple of God, the holy place of our sacred gatherings. Please take care of it!

CHURCH CONTRIBUTION VOUCHERS This week you can pick up proof of your contributions to our church in the parish office at the rectory. We extend sincere gratitude and appreciation for all the donations to our parish, particularly towards the church restoration, and for all that you do for our parish!
