WEEKLY MEDITATION

In general we reap what we sow. We can't expect to reap good if we have sown evil. We must sow peace if we do not want to reap conflict. We must sow loyalty if we do not want to reap betrayal. We must sow honesty if we do not want to reap deceit. Even though we have no absolute guarantee that what we sow will always fall on good ground, or that someone else may not come along and sow contrary seed, nevertheless, if we are careful to sow good seeds, we can within reason, trust our expectations because nature has shown that if what is planted bears fruit at all, it yields more of itself. So, let us sow good seed. With good seeds we cannot fail, our hearts cannot be troubled.

  • Reflection on VELIKA GOSPA PROCESSION(1)
For centuries our people have kept the tradition of pilgrimages; a journey towards the meaning of life, holiness, promises and commitment. Today, people still walk to many pilgrimage sites. Walking is a part of the Christian journey. For centuries, we Catholics have been walking in processions, praying for the most urgent needs. The path we walk is an important part of our spiritual journey. For many years, we have walked the path together in our Velika Gospa procession. We ask you to join us this year. Let us be not only observers, but active participants in the procession. Let us walk the same path once again towards holiness and joy. This path is a reflection of our life's journey and a sign of our spiritual strength.
  • Special GUEST FOR VELIKA GOSPA
THIS YEAR and Main celebrant for the High Mass at 11'o clock will be Fr. Dusko Moro, OFM, a Franciscan father from Sinj and professor of theology in Split, Croatia.

FROM DAUGHTERS OF DIVINE LOVE
Dear father, I cannot thank you sufficiently for your kindness. Your parish is a blessing. I am greatly impressed by the verbal response of all the people. By the grace of God the Almighty, their words will be put into action. I am deeply grateful for the generosity of your people towards our apostolate. God bless you all...Sr. Immaculata
Dear parishioners....Thank you for your gifts last Sunday for the missions.

OUR 90TH ANNIVERSARY. . .
RECALLING OUR PAST

During the pastorate of Fr. Mark Kozina (1969-1976), the interior of the church was altered to conform to the directions laid down by the Second Vatican Council. Air conditioning was introduced to the Church and to the Parish Hall. Under Fr. Mark's guidance, his young assistants, starting with Fr. Ante Čuvalo, and continuing with Fr. Ivan Bradvica, and Fr. Leon Galić, gave new momentum to the spiritual and cultural life of the parish, especially among the newly arrived Croatian parishioners. Thus, on the feast of St. Blaise, the 3rd of February, 1973, the Croatian School "Cardinal A. Stepinac" officially opened its doors for the parish's children. Some 40 students enrolled in short order. Classes were held on Saturday between the hours of 10 and 12 in the morning in the parish school. The course of studies included the study of the Croatian language, history, geography, folk tunes, and folk dances. Fr. Leon Galić took over Fr. Ivan's work in 1975. Fr. Mark remained as pastor until 1976, the year he was elected as the Custos of the Croatian Franciscans.

To make you smile.... From church bulletins:

1. Church parking - for members only! Trespassers will be baptized!
2. "No God - No Peace. Know God - Know Peace."
3. "Free Trip to Heaven. Details Inside!"
4. "Try our Sundays. They are better than Baskin-Robbins."
5. An ad for one Church has a picture of two hands holding stone tablets on which the Ten Commandments are inscribed and a headline that reads, - "For Fast Relief, Take Two Tablets."
6. "People are like tea bags - you have to put them in hot water before you know how strong they are."
7. "Come in and pray today. Beat the Christmas rush."
8. "Fight truth decay - study the Bible daily."
To be continued...
