WEEKLY
MEDITATION
The
Gospel takes us back to Holy Thursday
evening at the Last Supper. Jesus
gives his Apostles assurance and
prepares them to cope with life after
He has gone to the Father. He did not
pray that they would be spared trials
and sufferings, but remain faithful in
spite of them. Christ's parting words
are meant just as much for us as they
were for the Apostles. Jesus has
chosen us to share in His work. Our
calling is to be dedicated to the
truth of God's word by the way we
live. It is not easy, but God has not
left us to do it with our own
strength. If we place our lives in His
hands, he will equip us with the
qualities and character that are
necessary for the task. In times of
trouble we must remember that God did
not offer a release from problems, but
the ability to cope with them,
provided we turn to Him for comfort
and help. Only by turning to Jesus can
we properly face our problems. With
His power we can turn despair into
hope, sorrow into joy, and hatred into
love!
