WEEKLY MEDITATION

Christianity was founded upon the Good News, the Gospel. That Good News is a continual challenge to all of Christ's followers. They are the ones who must be the bearers of this joy, but that task isn't always easy. Our daily lives are interwoven with positive and negative experiences, the drama of both happiness and tragedy. Amidst the blows of life, it isn't easy to preserve this joy. At times we are assaulted by life's difficulties and often succumb to them to the point of pessimism. Under those circumstances we aren't able to proclaim the Good News.
Jesus came so that we would have joy and that our joy would be complete. His words are not empty. He, too, experienced difficult moments. He knew what it was like to shed tears for Jerusalem, for His dead friend Lazarus, and for His own suffering and agony. Yet, He also knew what it meant to feel joy. He felt such deep joy when a young man approached Him, asking how to gain everlasting life. He also felt joy in the knowledge that His Heavenly Father hid the mystery of His kingdom from the wise and intellectual, yet made it known to children.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

ART EXHIBIT IN OUR PARISH The work of two artists from our community, Francis Penavic and John Kuhtic, is on display on the second floor of the Small Hall. Everyone is invited to view these beautiful pieces. The exhibit will close at 2 P.M. on Sunday, March 2.

Lent - KorizmaTHE LENTEN SEASON begins this Wednesday, ASH WEDNESDAY, with fasting and abstinence required of all Catholics between the ages of 14 and 60. This is a special time of personal reflection, spirituality, and sacrifice. Today, in our church, you can obtain Lenten Offering Folders to use each day as you make a small sacrifice on behalf of the needy. At the end of Lent, the money you place in the folder should be given to whatever people, our church charity, or needy cause you would like to help. The goal is to do good by sacrificing for others. Masses for Ash Wednesday will be at 7:30 A.M., 11:00 A.M., and 7:00P.M.
Stations of the Cross in English will be held every Friday and 7 P.M., and in Croatian every Sunday at 10:30 A.M.

RECONCILIATION Confessions are heard every Sunday a half hour before masses. Parish Reconciliation Evening will be held on Palm Sunday, April 13, at 6 P.M.

GENEROUS HELP RECEIVED A few weeks ago in our bulletin we announced that help was needed for Stjepan, a toddler who is very ill. Through the kindness of our parishioners, we were able to send $2500.00 to help Stjepan receive the care he so direly needs. To all who responded to this appeal, we extend a big thank you!
