WEEKLY
MEDITATION
The
first Sunday of Advent warned us about
the end of salvation history and the
second coming of Christ. This Sunday
reveals how it really began. The
immediate forerunner of Christ is John
the Baptizer. He is a unique person who
has much to say to believers during this
season. He was a man who fulfilled his
mission to witness and preach conversion
from sin. As a sign of that conversion,
all who accepted his message were
baptized by John in the Jordan River.
John prepared the people for Jesus'
arrival. His preparation was aimed at
conversion and baptism for the
forgiveness of sins. He invited people
to turn from their sinful ways. His
preaching was similar to Elijah's
preaching in his day, or Jonah's, whose
words converted the city of Nineveh.

PARISH
EVENING OF RECONCILIATION
will be held on Sunday, December

sacrament of peace and forgiveness. Each
of us needs to begin anew, and celebrate
with our God the beautiful holy day of
Christmas with a clean heart. Seven
priests will be available for your
convenience. Next week you will receive
a very helpful brochure about preparing
for the sacrament of Reconciliation. We
should not forget the sacraments, the
instruments of God's mercy, that are so
important in our lives. Reconciliation
is only one of these sacraments. More
information about this sacrament can be
found on our web site: www.stjeromecroatian.org
