The Most Holy Trinity

The Trinity is a mystery - probably the most profound mystery of Christianity. Yet there would be no point in God revealing mysteries to us unless there is at least some aspect of them that we can understand, and we do find two key elements in this mystery that the human mind can grasp. The first is the fact that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are distinct, different from one another. To help us understand their uniqueness, God has revealed to us three separate functions that are carried out by the three persons. He has told us that it is proper to attribute to God the Father the work of creation; to God the son the work of Redemption, of reconciling, of healing; and to the Holy Spirit, the work of guidance in truth and the work of teaching. The second feature about the Trinity that is understandable, is that while each person is different from the other, those three persons live in community. Sacred Scripture says that you and I are made in the image and likeness of God. You and I have the same two qualities of God that we just described. First, we have a craving to be unique, to be ourselves, to make our own special imprint on history want to We want to be seen and accepted as special individuals. Second, like God we have the tendency to want to be in community. It is not good for man to be alone. We resist isolation. We are social beings; we want to live with others. So, fundamentally we are like God for the simple reason that the same qualities which exist in God are found in us.

ST. ANTHONY NOVENA

The novena in honor of St. Anthony continues. This evening (Sunday) Novena is at 6:00 P.M. Monday and Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. On the day of the feast we are all invited to go to St. Anthony Monastery (49^th and Drexel) for the main celebration. Please join us the June 13th in celebrating in honor of this popular and dear saint.

Our heartfelt thanks are extended to Sr. Mary John Goles who has served our parish school faithfully and lovingly with true dedication for many years. We also acknowledge the many other sisters, members of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, who served selflessly and untiringly for almost 80 years. St. Jerome School has been blessed with wonderful sisters whose devotion and care cannot be measured. We are grateful to them. May God bless and reward them for their service to us in His name.

CORPUS CHRISTI

Next Sunday is Corpus Christy. We will have our traditional Procession starting after 9:30 mass (around 10:40). Please join us to honor Christ=s presence in Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.

ADORATION: Every Thursday evening 7-8:30 P.M. Please join us.
